This is the 1st car that the windows froze ?? and you have lived there awhile ? what about door locks, wipers, tires to the ground where you go to take off and a big pile of snow & ice is stuck to your tire or tires ???? I lived in Mass. for 30yrs before moving to FL. had all of it happen. key won't go in door lock if it did go in could not turn. wipers stuck to windshield ? ? ? ?

Mine does have in-channel vent visors. I thought maybe they contributed.

We rarely get weather that cold. My truck used to freeze up at times, but I could wrap my arm against the window and crack the ice. The glass in the HHR just doesn't feel like it would take the banging as well. Just open the door to use the cardkey.

windows freezing

This happened to me too once. I thought it was kind of odd as it had rained a little and then the temp dropped to freezing. I've had it happen to me before on other cars but the weather was a lot more extreme. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

Never had that problem but I have ventvisors. I have had problems with snow melting and then freezing in the door wells thus causing problems opening the doors.

I've been lucky and have never had a lock freeze. The good news about the HHR is that it has only one keyway to worry about.

Winter in N IL

Yep, just got our HHR in Aug and today when I went to work it said 0 degrees and the windows are frozen shut. It's only bad at drive-throughs and the ATM. I'm gonna try the suggestion made. Thanks for the tip!

After my windows freezing up for the past couple of days I figured out mine freezes from the bottom of the window not the top. A chunk of ice forms in between the window and the rubber seal.
