the fuse at battery

Unhappy the fuse at battery

for some reason my water temp gauge goes out and doesnt read sometime it does some time it doesnt. but i have found out if i go and pull the fuse out and put back in the cooling gauge works could anyone help on this and do i really need the fuse back there or could i wire it up difference?
please help.

you really need that fuse back there. it protects your battery from being overloaded and being damaged. if you are under warranty or even if you are not i would take it to the dealership

sounds like the cluster or body controler is locking up. Unplugging the fuse is rebooting the module. (like a reboot on a pc when they lock up) The next time it happens Don't unplug the fuse and take it to the dealer, they may be able to pull a code out of the system. some times a software update will fix the problem.

This happened to my HHR. After a while it started setting a code too....

Turned out to be a common issue. Bad thermostat was not letting the car heat up fast enough. When that happens the computer shuts off the temp gauge. Both the analog and the digital will go out. Changed the thermostat and it has not happened again....

What HHorange said..

Run the DIC to read coolant temp. It should come up to 180 - 190-ish. Much lower than that, it's a bad thermostat. Common problem.
