Gas key

I recently got a 2011, and it came with a key labeled "gas". However, I can't find anywhere to use it. The gas door just opens when you push on it, and there's nothing on the cap that appears to lock it. Was it maybe for a cap that's been replaced, or is there some secret way to use it to lock the door/cap? Thanks for any insight!

Something the previous owner got and discarded. Not from GM.

It’s just dead weight on your ignition switch, remove it.
I see the ignition recall has been done! That’s good.

What is the ignition recall and how can you tell it's been done from the pics?

The hole in the key is the 'key'
Old style had an oblong hole
I can also tell that your FOB has been broken and repaired
