Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles! Thats what GM has my company working on.

 

Well I heard there would be a major expense down the road to replace these Hybrid Battries. A Service job/replacment could cost 2k to 3K.

 

Well even if you did the math 60 or 70 mpg instead of 30 even if you had to replace the batteries if you did enough driving, I bet just the difference on what u pay for gas would make up for it.

 

Well in Theory I do Agree with you on that point. However how many people will take log's to cacluate the true cost of there savings. Sorry the accountant side of me come's out on that one. If your going to save money on gas, that is one expense less your going to calculate less on your Monthly, Qtr, and yearly Budget. But when you have to incurr an unexpected cost it will casue an neg. effect.

 

one must realize that the epa estimates on mpg are clearly wrong, most people are reporting far lower numbers on hybrids. a shining example is the honda civic hybrid, many who thought they were going to get 40+ mpg are only seeing a gain of 5mpg or less. same holds true for the escape hybrid. Now, take into account the higher intital purchase price ($3,000+ over a similar gas auto), combined with replacing the batteries every 3-5 yrs, and you begin to see the severe disadvantage of the hybrid.

i said it before, there are far better alternatives coming, hybrids are a joke.

no prob, many people only look at the cost at the pump, not the overall operating cost, and many of those people are getting burned.
