Stupid, How about Hummer,GMC,Pontiac,Saab.

Hummer just needs to go. GMC has nothing other then Trucks/Suv's those days are over. Pontiac has nothing... Only thing worth anything is the G8 and thats all but dead. Considering there not selling. Saab is nothing more then rebadged Chevy.

Why would they want to get rid of Saturn, Which they have spent Billions on over the last few years redoing every model?

Because it's just becoming their rebadged Opel division?

Of The Ones That They Are Thinking Getting Rid Of, It Will Be Sad To See Pontiac Go.

I Could Care Less About The Other 3. Especially Hummer.

Hummer has been up for sale since June...no takers.

Saab...I could never figure out why they bought that company in the first place.

Saturn...Aura is nothing but a Malibu/LaCrosse. Some of the other cars are re-branding too. Might make sense to dump this brand.

Pontiac...BYE BYE!

Sad to see but GM should have cut the divisions long ago.

Hummer will not be cut as it will be sold. It is for sales now.

Saturn was give some very good Opels but there sales are still not what they should be.

Saab sells only so many cars and will not be sold since GM builds Saabs in most of the Opel plants. They bought them for their technology mostly and they were cheap at the time. THe Turbo HHR SS engine is some of what GM learned form them.

Pontiac is close to my heart as I own two now. But my latest two new cars I bought is a Chevy as Pontiac offers nothing. They have two good cars in the G8 and Solstice but the rest are nothing but rebadged Chevys and a Toyota.

GM is going to a world platform and model line up. Chevys are now starting to be sold in Europe that are just the same as what we will get here. Buick is the best selling car in China [big money maker] and Caddy is not being sold world wide. Opel could come here but already is one of the largest best selling cars in Europe. GM's only trouble is here and in Austrailia.

Pontiac hardly sells here let alone anywhere else.

I would hate to see Pontiac be cut but the fact is they have nothing to offer and GM has no money to fix them. I hope they may retire the name to bring it back at a later time. The name is damaged now but they can stem the damage if they drop the line ASAP.

GMC will die in time. But killing it is not like Killing Pontiac. WIth the Chevy truck line in place the change over will be seemless.

The hard part in all the changes is how is the money handled to close down the divisions and how much it will cost to buy people out. Can't afford to keep them can't hardly aford to kill them.,

Be aware too that his is not new news and has been floated many times in the last 5 years. Also note this is an un named person. That often means it is a slow news day so we stir it up with a report on something that might happen just to see if we can get a reaction on a story that may or may not be true.

I would wait till GM says something beofre I would get to excited. Some big changes are coming but what they all are I don't thing GM even knows yet. Let the gov say if they will give the money or not first then we will know what they will do.

Speaking from the viewpoint of an employee of a stand alone Buick dealer I'd welcome the demise of Pontiac/GMC.Then there would be no threat of GM's master plan to integrate Buick with those two brands.I'd get to keep my job and maybe prosper when we got to fix all those orphaned Pontiacs/GMCs.

I really feel for you as Buick has been really strapped for good new product. GM sells some very good Buicks overseas in China and that is what I see as saving Buick. The new Opel sedan is sold in China as a Buick and was canaceled as a Saturn here. I have pondered will the products planned for Saturn fill in the line up of smaller Buicks.

The Lacrosse is only the first new car and it was in the works before a lot of things happened.

The truth is GM North America could operate just fine on Chevy and Caddy as they are the profit centers or as much of one as they have.
