All are good common sense but one.

The Premium fuel may not effect some cars but it will effect many newer cars that are Supercharged or Turbocharged.

I own a SS and a GTP GP. Both can run on regular or premium. The premium in these cars will increase power in the area of 20 HP.

The new cars in some but not all cases can dial out performace to make it so you can run on the less octain fuel.

Note these cars will say Premuim Fuel is recomended and the others will say required.

The rest of you can argue if you should or not use it but that is how most MFG deal with it.

But as they have it stated many other cars do not feel the effects of premium fuel. I suspect this may change in the future with more and more Turbo engines coming to market in the next few years. A turbo will be optional in most models.
