Had my car worked on!!!! NOT HAPPY!!!

Well i had to take my car in wednesday to have it worked on-a seal replaced on the passenger side door for the window, and a rattle in my headliner. well i pick it up and it has black finger prints all over the headliner. my door panels were installed wrong i guess they took both of them off and didnt put them back on right, the passenger side one is warped so now they had to order a whole new door panel. its really jus the inconvenience of having to take it back to the dealer everytime they fix something that makes me mad well after they fix the panel this will be the last time i take my car to that dealer.

Sorry to hear that. I hope it was just a sloppy repair person who will now get chewed out since they cost their dealership money. No excuses for that kind of work.
You are correct in changing dealers too. Why continue to support a place that allowed such shoddy handling of your LARGE investment, your car?
Sounds like you have other Chevy dealers to visit!
Good luck with it all.

That's too bad...and I understand where you're coming from. My dealer is always careful with my car when it's there and I've never had a problem. I'd definitely change dealers after what you've been through. Sounds like it may not be the first time it happened either.

harpozep.....

I wish that were the case. But, more than likely the dealer will mark it as a warranty repair and GM/Chevrolet will pay for it. That is a very big problem.....dealer workers screwing something up and charging GM for it.

Probably the way to tell.....if they just mark the line item on the Service Order, "No Charge", instead of "Warranty".

My experience with GM cars is that unless you're on warranty, don't get repairs done with the dealer.

Most recent example is when I was having trouble with my starter motor on my Ion-2, and the local Saturn dealer charged me $100 to tell me nothing was wrong (which was BS. I got the motor replaced elsewhere and things worked out great).

I would also suggest calling up a GM rep and letting them know. I did that re: the local Saturn dealership and they're giving me a $2000 voucher towards my HHR because of all the problems I had,

my HHR had a few spots on the headliner when I picked it up fo the very first time from the dealer. The good news was that when they replaced the sunroof, they cleaned the headliner too. They probably thought that they left the marks!!

From my experiences, this is a true statement. Not just from my recent brand new HHR dealer service visits (took two visits to find coolant leak), but also from other cars, namely the '95 Vette I had, and a '91 Z28 I had.

When I got my HHR back yesterday from the dealer service dept (they installed new thermostat housing to repair leaking defective one) I noticed that they didn't fit the air intake snorkel to the hole in the fender bulkhead properly, it was just half hanging on about to fall loose. They also left off a nut off that holds down a retainer clasp which secures the wiring harness down near where it passes over the automatic transmission. I *think* they forgot to install a wiring harness retainer clasp onto the top of the new thermostat housing, but I don't know if there was one there originally or not.

It is amazing that you still hear stories about bad dealerships these days... There is just so much competition now.

In the last few months my wife's car ('05 Sunfire) has gone in for some minor warranty work (brakes!), and I received my new HHR. As both dealt with GM of Canada, we received surveys from GM asking us about the service. In both cases, we received follow up calls from the dealer to make sure everything was all right. In fact, with my HHR, it was kinda weird. I got "thank you" cards from the salesman, the dealership, and GM of Canada! When my wife's car went in for service they didn't even know about the brake issue, she just told them when she got there. Even though she was only booked in for a semi-annual inspection, they had a tech look at the brakes immediately and she was leaving the dealer 2 hours later with the car in great working condition. I could go one more about these guys, but I'll leave it at that...

Sorry about the long winded post, but I'm just trying to back up a point - there are good dealers out there, and the service that was described above (the shoddy work detailed in the original post) should not be taken lightly. If it was a one-off (hey, everybody has a bad day) you can overlook it, but not if it is more the rule than the exception.
