Has anyone re-aimed their head lights? I have the full set of GM Manuals.

A very brief one paragraph description on how to aim for the vertical axis only. I seems odd that there is not an adjustment for the horizontal axis.

Please reply if you know something different.

 

There is no horizontal adjustment. They are preset. My wife's Dodge Van is the same way. I believe you need an 8mm allen wrench to adjust the vertical position.

 

In states that require an annual vehicle inspections, do they still check headlight aim? I know they used to in Missouri. Here in Florida they don't even think about inspecting cars. We wouldn't want to make the highways safer for all or earn a little extra revenue. That would make too much sense!

 

No car inspections here in Ohio ether. Thank goodness!

 

I know this is an old thread (and I started a new one) but is everyone sure that there is no horizontal adjustment? If not, I will need to replace a headlight assembly after hitting a bale of hay.

 

If there's no horizontal adjustment, replacing the headlight with another one just like it would yield the same results. It's probably not the light, but how it's mounted.

 

Well. if there's no horitontal adjustment, and your headlight is shining off to the side, then something is bent, isn't it?

 

Would have to be, and I doubt it would be the light itself.

 

If one can view the light pattern & see how much one is off.
And the tinwork looks ok, you could just shim the proper mounting bolt(s) of the headlight to re-aim the horiz..

just sayin...

 

The horizontal your headlights cover is a relatively wide angle. You can see the definite line for the vertical limit your lights are set at.
