Help, I got sprayed
I never had problems cleaning engines in the past, and back in the day high pressure wash was first order of business..... those days are over, so it seems.
I have noticed the HHR motor stays pretty clean all by itself....... I haven't had to do anything but a wipe down on mine to get some dust off on occasion.

a local cleaning store sells this amazing product called "enzymes". Look for an enzyme cleaner. Don't use anything else first! I eliminated really nasty dog odours from a Nissan pickup I bought once. The stuff really works!!
The smell
I have hit so many skunks in my day, and have learned that getting the smell of skunk spray out of a car is a waiting game. I would usually take it to the car wash and spray it down making sure to get underneath and that's it. Normally, within a couple of days the smell has dissipated and can no longer be smelled. I would be hesitant to do any major cleaning after hitting a skunk, but rather just wait it out.
Ok well I left the windows down half the day before I got to the car wash and added a couple air freshners. All seems good except when I use the air. I think I'll leave that off for awhile and hope it clears up soon.
