Exclamation Help! Wiper arm not moving

Snow here in southern Ontario today. Things were fine until I did the flip the wiper trick to get some ice build up off the blade. Next time I hit the wipers the driver's side arm did not move, passenger side working fine. Now the arm (driver's side) is just limp. Anyone have any ideas that do not involve taking a lot of things apart. I need to get this fixed before my commute home tonite and would really rather not pay the dealer to do it if there is a simple solution.

We know your in a jam but this is a time consuming repair that would be done quickest at the dealer! If you do a search of wipers you have several pages to search through and your question with answer can be found! Here's the first one we came across addressing your situation:

Well it turns out that this is not a good job to do in the driveway, in a snow storm. Thanks to the info on here I was able to get the part from the wreckers for $35.00 called my favourite garage and they will put it in for $85.00. Should be on the road again this afternoon. Now I realize that I had left my keys at home this morning, 60 miles away. Wife is being amazing and bringing them to me. what an adventure for trying to get a bit of ice off the wiper. Thanks for the prompt reply yesterday and for all the great info on here.

I have read that some who live in heavy snow areas, lift the wipers off the windshield after parking, & leave them up for overnight. This way they don't freeze to the windshield.

Don't forget the wipers are up and turn them on the wiper arms will scrape the paint off the lip of the hood.
