HHR body rust
Hi guys. this is my first post and I really don't know what I am doing. I need all the help I can get.
just bought a new 1999 HHR L1 and I love it.nothing under the car is rust proof. looks like a fine coat of primer. does anyone use rust protection. thanks from the old man

I'm sure you mean 2009, right?
Don't worry about further rustproofing, it's neither required nor recommended. The coating you see underneath is pretty durable & resistant to corrosion, especially where you live with no road salt!

GM used coatings that generally do a good job of rust prevention.
Often the rust comes from inside the body out on most vehicles any more.
Often some rust proofings can and will void the GM rust through protection policy.
MY last GMC was going on it's 13th winter and I just had a little rust on the bottom of the third door in the metal seem. Alos my 04 GTP has only some on the struts but none on the body.
