HHR Color
Hi Goose! You're lucky to have the Golden Teal, I loved it, but Hubby didn't, we really wanted orange, but they couldn't find one in a five speed, so we settled for Silverstone, since we were in a hurry to get one, but discovered we can't put a rack on the LS,......and we still really love orange. We're considering trading our seven week old HHR in on an orange 2LT, will be going out to Chevy's big tent sale tomorrow and see what kind of deal we can get, "if" we really decide to trade our Silver Streak in. Or perhaps we should wait for the 08's to come out. Seems it's really easy to find colors if you get an automatic, and not if you want a stick.
I realy wanted Dark silver until i saw the Imperial Blue metallic. I picked up my HHR yesterday and i am so glad i got the Blue. I ve only had the car 24 hours and have already gotten 3 compliments on the color from strangers.
Went out to the big Chevy Tent sale they had this weekend. They took us out to find that 2007 orange LT with a roof rack they said they had, no such thing, finally found one way way far away in a lot with a few cars. It was an 06 2LT really really dirty, but it had leather seats, sun roof, and all the bells and whistles. Hubby drove it around quite a bit, and then told me something was not right with the steering. We turned it down. They tell us they will be getting in a 07 LT, 5 speed, on Thursday with a roof rack...........we've heard that way too many times before, but we'll go take a look, "if" they really get it in.
Not sure, but I don't think it's going to be bad at all, at least it sounded like it wouldn't be a big difference. Fact is we should have done our homework, or better yet, discovered this site. We've learned so much from the folks here. We love to camp, and althought the HHR is roomy, we really need the extra space our car top carrier provides. When we bought the LS they told us that we CAN have Chevy put a roof rack on it, not true, needs to be factory installed. It's not only a question of color, it's the roof rack we really need.
We've often been known to go camping for two months straight, and it's nice to take stuff to make your life more enjoyable when you're gone that long. I'll let you know how much we have to dish out, "if" they really find us a car with a roof rack. Two musts, roof rack, and five speed. They have not been able to find that combo for some reason. We'll leave things as is if it's not a price we can't agree on. The car salesman who came out to wait on us started off by going on and on about how these HHR's don't depreciate, and we said "good, cause we have a seven week old one we want to trade in!"
Hope Thursday rolls around soon.

What cha wanna bet the dealer quotes a whole lot more......
Ever though of putting a hitch on a using a hitchhaul? It would be on the rear so you would not have the wind issues with a carrier and the are 24x60 and will hold a lot. Dealer is gonna take a chunk out of a 7 week old cause he won't be able to sell it for the cost of a new one.

The choices are pretty limited in our town. First I test drove a white HHR but saw the victory red spring edition parked on the lot and fell in love with it. I wasn't ready to buy at that time. A week later they offered 0% financing so I started looking seriously. The local dealer had a SOM on the website but it was sold before I got there. I knew I didn't want white (had 2 in the past 10 years), black (hate to wash a car several times a week), or dark red (retains too much Florida heat. The dealer had a sandstone HHR with the as few options as I wanted and at the price I could afford. After owning it almost a year, I find it really hides dirt well and I've grown to love the color. The only way I'd consider buying one in another color is when they offer Corvette yellow. I've already told my son I'll buy one and have two large black strips painted over the hood, roof, and rear hatch. Now that will be a racer!
