HHR for Europe!!!
HHR for Europe!!!
Now lets see some of those crazy Euro Tuners get ahold of one!!
Global Offensive: Chevrolet Will Export HHR to Europe
ZURICH, Switzerland — Flexing its muscle overseas, General Motors has announced that it will export the Chevrolet HHR to Europe in the last quarter of 2007. It also announced that it will more than double the original planned capacity of the new assembly plant it is building on the outskirts of St. Petersburg, Russia.
The new GM plant will be able to build 70,000 units of the Chevrolet Captiva and unspecified other vehicles as of 2008 in the area that is being called the "Russian Detroit."
General Motors said it sold more than 132,000 cars on the Russian market in 2006, of which more than 84 percent were Chevrolets. "Russia is our biggest market for Chevrolet in Europe," said Carl-Peter Forster, president of General Motors Europe.
The news that the HHR is coming to Europe is a major step for the Detroit automaker as it hustles to bring such brands as Cadillac and Chevrolet to new markets. The HHR sold in Europe will come with a choice of two inline-4 engines, including a 2.2-liter engine that delivers 149 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque and a 2.4-liter unit that delivers 175 hp and 168 lb-ft of torque.

The last thread was locked because it asked the question if the HHR would go to Europe? That questioned has now been answered. This states the HHR IS going to Europe and therefore deserves its own thread!!! It will be interesting to find out what kind of changes if any there will be for the European models!! This should also bring more members to the site!!!

From Chevy Europe's website:
Chevrolet will import HHR to Europe
• Unique styling with functional interior in the compact segment
• Fun to drive and spacious
Zurich. Chevrolet Europe has decided to bring the HHR to Europe. The current plan is to offer this unique vehicle that combines styling and interior adaptability, suited to all lifestyles, to European customers in the last quarter of 2007. The HHR has a distinct design that was inspired by the 1949 Chevrolet Suburban – the original utility vehicle.
HHR is a four-door vehicle with a rear touch-pad liftgate. Its high roof evokes the look of the innovative 1949 Chevy Suburban.
The HHR is easily recognizable with its large, square fender flares and a hemispherical grille. The jeweled lighting effects, as well as a flared, twin-taillamp design in the rear that create a look that is half street machine and half vintage Corvette. Stamped door and window appearances with a one-piece wraparound molding contribute to the clean, detailed design and are uncommon in contemporary vehicles. The HHR’s rear window is flush with the body side.
With its overall length of 4475 mm and a cargo capacity of approximately 1787 liters, the five-passenger HHR has easy-to-maneuver dimensions and room for just about any lifestyle interest. Its reconfigurable interior with clever storage solutions accommodates everything from groceries to surfboards.
In addition to the feeling of roominess, the HHR's interior evokes upscale aura created by detailed, jewel-like displays and chrome accents.
All HHR models include standard features such as air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power outside mirrors, cruise control and remote keyless entry.
All HHR sound systems feature an auxiliary channel and front-mounted auxiliary input jack, so that an iPod or other audio source can be played through the vehicle audio system.
The HHR has a choice of two technologically sophisticated inline four-cylinder engines, which balances usable power with fuel and emissions efficiency: the 2.2L engine with 149hp and torque of 210 Nm and the 2.4L unit with 175 hp and torque of 228 Nm.

I am not sure if I should post this message in this thread or not, but since we are discussing the HHR in other markets ............. Over the past several months as I was researching build dates for our HHR's, I came across at least 3 HHR's that were designated for export to Tokyo, Japan. Some of the RPO codes were BAG/Export Parts Package, CW9/General Export and T62/Daytime Running Light delete. All of these 3 HHR's were equipped with the 2.2 engine, anti-lock brakes and the US8 radio. One was a LS model and the other two were LT's. Warranty was listed as 36/100000 IPC Bumper to Bumper and 72/unlimited IPC Corrosion (kilometeres). I thought this was interesting and hopefully you will too!
O, by the way, 2 were Black and one was Imperial Blue.
