HHR Owners age
I turned 47 in april.

First car (brand new) was a two tone light gray/dark gray 1985 big Buick LeSabre LTD 2dr coupe (Collector’s edition and had an Oldsmobile 307 engine) bought when I was 23. This is my 2nd best car so far. Unfortunately, I sold it after 5 years, but I should have kept this car. I had no problems whatsoever with this car. This car is still on the road today. I saw it two weeks ago. Looks nearly as clean as when I sold it.
Second car was a 1986 VW GTI, also bought new. Car was fun to drive, but was a maintenance nightmare……… And the VW dealership was a crook. I won’t buy another VW.
3rd car.. 1st Chevy: 1991 Cavalier RS coupe 3.1 V6 (made in mexico) had it for 17 years (my best car ever) Only repairs I had with this car: (let alone regular maintenance)2 sets of brakes, 5 mufflers and 1 catalytic converter. I never had to replace a single light bulb on this car. None burned.
Why.. you tell me...
Traded in this car for the 2007 Cobalt.
Overall, my guess is I've spent less than $1000.00 on this car in 17 years. This car started flawlessly, like it was in summer, in -35 temperatures (thanks to Amsoil synthetic oils).
2nd Chevy: 2001 3.4 Venture.... Was a maintenance hog... intake gasket... head gasket..
But, fortunately, had a very good gas mileage for a mini van.
3rd Chevy: 2003 Astro AWD, 40K miles. Also a maintenance hog. $6000.00+
already spent on this truck, for several problems, most are still uncorrected to this date.
Truck has a front end vibration at 50MPH. $2000.00 spent so far to correct this problem... Vibration is still there…
Fuel pump + fuel gauge went bad $$$.
Truck didn’t start, so the distributor cap had to be replaced once. Truck is leaking oil under the engine. Front… and then rear $$$ engine crank oil seals were replaced. Oil pan seal was also replaced… Still leaks… This problem is bizarre. No oil drips can be seen under the engine(front and rear engine seals are dry, oil pan is dry), but there’s still a small puddle (2 to 3 inch) of oil under the truck if I leave it at the same place overnight… Like if it comes from nowhere..
Fortunately, I’m not using it much, only to tow my B17.5G Bigfoot trailer in the summer. However, the real test for this truck will be the next winter. I’ll put the HHR SS in temporary storage for the winter, so the Astro will be my winter daily driver, for the 1st time. We'll see....
4th Chevy: My 2007 Chevy Cobalt LT. Only had it for a year. A very good car. Only problem (repair) was a rattle in the steering wheel, which turned out to be the electric steering motor module in the steering column. Steering motor module was replaced, and cured the problem. I traded in the Cobalt to buy the HHR SS.
My HHR SS is my 5th Chevy.
