The HHR and towing.

I have an 06' HHR 2LT, 2.4. I just bought a pop up camper, and I am wondering if this thing will pull this. Its a 11 or 12 ft pop up when closed up. I'd really hate to buy a full size truck only for towing if i dont need to. Let me know.

Thanks guys!

you can find a lot by using the search feature towards the top right of the forum. A lot has been discussed already. But the manual says it is only rated at towing 1000 lbs (auto tranny only, 0 for the stick) and that includes the people in the vehicle and the 6 pack you have in the cooler.

Greybeard999 will tell you the same .

You've got a 1000 pound load limit on the HHR, from what I've read that includes trailer and stuff in the back of the car. There is a 100 pound tongue weight limit. Also GM says automatic trans only.... warranty void if you tow with manual trans. Not sure where your pop-up falls in those limitations.

Towing With HHR

Ive got a 5x8 railer (inside demension) I tow my John Deer lawn tractor (16 hp). Also if I need to haul a modest amount of lumber, it's no sweat. The really sweet thing is the roof racks. If you use a couple of 1x1 cUt to about 5', you can haul a bunch of stuff. Just use common sense and you will be amazed.

the owners manual (at least for my '10) also had mileage restrictions for towing 1000 lbs. i believe it was like 1000 miles per year or something, and no steep hills (not that steep hills are a major problem in OK... =D ). i would double check the manual for exact numbers, but the wife has the hhr at work...

You need an ultra-lite unit, like those from Quicksilver.

Specs on Pp 3
