Hi there, I know I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this, but I would like to know if it is possible to turn my exhaust manifold upside down and shoot the exhaust through the hood. I've been toying with you idea for a while now, and I just cracked my old manifold so I bought a new one, and before I install it I just wanted to know if anybody had ever done this and if it would just be as easy as flipping it upside down?

 

Don’t think the bolt pattern will match up if you flip the manifold. And where would you attach the downpipe (up pipe?) and catalytic converter ? Or the rest of the exhaust system. On the roof ?

 

Well I wasn't sure about the bolt pattern, and the cat can go where the air cleaner is once I run a new pipe and make it a "snorkel" so I can have more room in the engine compartment. Just an idea I've been bouncing around, not really sure if I'll do it

Catalytic converter under the hood. What could possibly go wrong.
Better have a fire extinguisher or even a fire truck close by because that car would go up in flames.

 

500F-1200F plus gasoline fumes = explosion

 

I have only one question: what is this for?
