Question How has the black and sliver paint been holding up?

I have a love/hate relationship with black. Looks great-- sucks to maintain.

I am looking at four different 08/09 HHR SS. Two are black and two are silver. Can anyone tell me how their black and/or silver paint is holding up? Is it staying on the car? Any fading? Any other problems?

The sad fact is black is the best looking color for an SS so I have to come to grips with it, but since there are two silver, I do have some options. There aren't too many reds around (and none for sale).

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Terry

Black is a total pain but my paint still looks good after 4 years. I do have a lot of fine scratches though. No fading that I've noticed.

BLACK: Have had Car 11 for 2 years, 1 month. Bought it new...prior to purchasing Car 11 it sat on a dealer's lot for 6 months. The paint is great; no fading. BUT, I do polish it twice a year. When it's polished it looks great and (since it's black) it does show the little door dings. It even shines on an overcast day...

HHRs aren't quite old enough to tell yet.... My Lumina didn't have paint start to peel until it was about 8 years old...

front of mine has a good amount of stone chips that shows like crazy on the black.

i would go with the silver, looks great as an ss (should hide the paint chips a bit). Personal opinion but i would say black is probably my least favorite SS colors, the others make them really unique. Sunburst Metallic, the bright blue (don't remember the name, even the dark blue. Love the regular hrr in black the most, but ss is another story.

I love the black SS. Almost all blacked out with no chrome is a great look. Of course I'm partial to it since I have one :). No major problems with the paint; just chipping in the front which I also had with my silver 2LT.

Just about all of the colors look good on HHR's...well except the Blue Flash anyways. My favorites are the Aqua Blue, Imperial Blue, and Sunburst Orange.

I have a black one, and it looks sharp when it's clean, but I guess they are like anything else that's black...they show every spec of dust and dirt.

Thanks Twistrman (well all of you!). I like the silver too but it seems the first HHR SS's to get dumped are black. Mere coincidence or psychic phenomena? I don't know.

I like the sunburst too but as my wife mentioned, it's a fad color and it's just not high on my list right now.

Red's very rarely show up around here but I am hoping I get some more choices over the next month as I buy. If someone dumps a black on me I will take it but I think I will hold out for a red or silver.
