According to that site there are 16 total HHR's the same as mine. But it also says it is Blue Frost Metallic when it is actually Gold Mist. It has the year correct but says the Build Date is Unknown. With the inaccuracies and completely wrong things I have to wonder if any of the rest is correct.

Vin, schmin.......they want info on ya, it's not that hard to get......it's all in who's protectin' ya.

most likely a marketing tool used by someone connected to the auto industry..even as a small buisness I can aquire info on people searching for my services like my own by paying a fee to companies like this and in return get lists of email addresses to send my "spam" style ads for my own company..this is how the aftermarket companies keep up with the demand and find out what people might need in the future..99% ligit most of the time..email addresses are worth big bucks to companies lookin to sell a product or service

That is kind of what I think it is too. But in this day and age of fake Paypal emails and credit card pishing it never hurts to check or ask sometimes. Few remember the internet is the place we let people into our house that we normally would not let in the front door! LOL! Better safe than sorry.

I just got a message on the machine today from a scam artist. Just google him and found the scam.

As others have suggested, the accuracy is a little questionable. They had a few minor mistakes on my "build" also. Like you, Solman, I am a rare bird.... here's the outcome.....

Rarity...

There are 2 2006 HHR 5 DR UPLEVEL HIGH ROOF H/B vehicles (0.001%) matching your exact options list. There are 8 (0.004%) with at least as many options.
The rarity of your vehicle is based on an exact match of your options for your year and model.
To check any combination of RPO codes to find how rare your vehicle is based on the most important codes

As for rarity, mine is "zero" of a kind according to this website since I entered my VIN and it just gave me a blank stare. Now, I look forward to the barrage of spam trying to sell me extended warranties.

Hmmm Spyware.

I can hear it now. "Mom! This Comuter is so slow!!"

I wonder where this guy is getting his Data? Many seem to be getting misses on some of the info as to what they have.

Mine never asked me for an email address, so no spam involved...... That is where most get junk, they give out their email address to freely.

You may have missed the sophistication and multi-dimensionality of spam. Not email... mail. And that site is VERY capable of identifying your computer's IP address, which, through "publicly" available means, can be traced back to the source (as in your ISP's local DHCP server). A quick pass through publicly available information at the DMV or taxing authority, and voila... another list of car owners (and likely addresses). The second list works fine on its own for bulk spamming... but add the "this guy was interested enough to go to our site and divulge what kind of car he has" list, and you've got highly targeted spamming.
