How should I go about putting an hour meter in my 2008 HHR?

Would it be possible to wire an hour meter
into My 2008 HHR 2.2L
*So that it ONLY Counts
When the Transmission is in "Drive"?

Probably wire into the DRL relay off the top of my head. I will think some more on it.

With wire.

I think what I would do is put the + to the purple wire (terminal 87) of the DRL relay. It will supply 12V when the gear selector is not in park.

Or to the yellow wire going to the headlight. Whichever is easiest to get to. Maybe with a relay, but not required.
