Instrument panel

Instrument panel
The design of the instrument panel is a big pet peeve with me. With a standard 2.2 I really don't need a tach. It takes up way too much room out of the speedometer. It makes the graduations between the speed marks too close, so I have a hard time figuring out if I'm going 50 or 60, 60 or 70 etc. I'm far sighted, great for driving, but need reading glasses. So the speedo is a little blurred. Most speed limits around here are 50 and 70, those numbers aren't even shown. The car runs so smooth it's hard to tell sometimes how fast I'm really going.
When driving in Canada I switch to Km's. trouble is that 60 mph is about 110 km's. the speedo only goes up to 120, stupid. With the tach gone probably would be room for all four standard gages, gas, volt, oil, water.
Also don't like the headlites staying on after shutting it down at night, don't like the door locks automatically locking when putting it in gear or unlocking automatically when putting into park. That's my job. Headlites staying on run down the battery. I'm old school, don't like computers telling me what to do and when I can do it. My main vehicle is a 1965 Chevy Van, about as basic as you can get. I'm in complete control. btw-since I started driving in 1962, I've never had an accident or ticket, and for 43 of the those 51 years I've driven the van, point is, don't need computers. And for 23 of those years have towed travel trailers with said van. Also don't need, AB power brakes, traction control, power steering, automatic headlites, etc etc.
Why did I buy a 2008?, anything you buy has to have (gov't regs) all that and that's all that's available these days, plus wife wants all that stuff.
I'm done now.

Trade it for a SS with the RPD.
I love having a speedo that I can actually see. I never look at the instrument panel one unless the RPD one is switched to another screen.

wow, didn't know those existed. (sorry about the rant) no money to do that, we bought the HHR in August '08, when things went south do did my business, so things were kinda tight making payments on a loan we took on at a real bad time. Glad we kept it.
