Intake Surprise

Just bought an 07 HHR 2LT two weeks ago. Decided to change the air filter to a K&N drop in air filter. Got an interesting surprise rattling around in the intake tube and filter box:

Not sure where this car used to be parked, but weird.

Welcome to the forum!

and I wonder if your car is GM certified? I'm sure they inspected the corn kernels to make sure they were still OK to use

maybe there is an ethanol(corn oil) joke to be had here?

I'd be worried about the little critter(squirrel, rat etc.) that put those in there. Look around and you will probably find a nest.

Welcome- There have been a couple other members who found surprises in there as well..

If parked outside you could put some wire mesh in the end by fenderwell to prevent any further surprises...

Deffinitely got some critters make a nest in there. As Sleeper pointed out, get some mesh and block that off before they get any further up in there...

That's one way to try to burn ethanol 😁
I always had something building a nest under mine.
Finally got rid of the air box and simply put filter on end of air intake.
Little bastard hasn't been back.
