Just curious if these tires will fit stock HHR steelies?

Hi all,

Let me start off by saying that I know nothing about rims/tires/bolt patterns/offsets/etc. I have a 2007 HHR LS, 2.0L, 5speed, with factory steelies and wheel covers. Currently running 215/55/16's on the car, but I'm getting ready for the winter tire changeover. I have two sets of almost brand new winter tires that were bought for other vehicles, neither of whch is running anymore. One set is 205/55/16's, the other is 225/60/16's. Would putting either of those sets on my steelies cause any issues that you are aware of? This would really save me a bunch of money and headaches....LOL

Thanks,
Rob

Your OEM's are 25.3" in Dia, the 205's are 26.6" in Dia and the 205's are 24.9" and they all should fit but the speedometer will be off some. Go to this site http://www.web-cars.com/math/tiresize.html and you can find how much it will differ. http://www.onlineconversion.com/tire...conversion.htm will calc dia for you, Can' find the site off hand that compares tires side by side but it is listed someplace on the forum. Check this site also http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp

Sounds like the 225s might hit the strut. You want a narrower tire with more clearance driving in snow anyways. The 205s should do the job nicely, your speedo will be slightly high, nothing to write home about, probably less than 1mph.
I would put the savings toward some new summer wheels and tires, then you can swap them yourself between seasons.
