Just wondering

I picked up my 07 HHR Thursday and got to looking at it today and just wondered about the front bumper. What is the purpose of the black square area in the front bumper? It looks silly in the sea of white paint on the front end of my ride. I did see online a chrome piece to put over it, but I think I rather see it all white. Also, does anyone have a picture of a white HHR with white wheels and white grill? I am interested in making this thing as white as I can.

you can spray paint that area of the bumper to match your car color. I've seen white wheels before, but dont know if they make any for the HHR. Same with the grille.

You might need to just purchase a grille and rims and have a shop paint them for you.

Good luck! Your idea sounds like it will make your HHR a nice looking ride.

The others are right. SindyDix has done some great things with her white HHR. Definitely one of those to check out. Also, check the pictures and media page and look at the sticky threads for Summit White. Those will lead you to other members who drive the Summit White.

Welcome to the forum...have a great time and we'll see ya around the boards.

I am glad to see that it can be painted, but why did GM decide on black in the first place. What's the deal? I also wish the HHR had chrome bumpers!!

It's sort of an impact or rub strip. So the paint would not be damaged in case of a slight impact.

I would have thought that was the purpose of the nodes on the bumper. Wouldn't they be hit first?

I saw a White HHR a few weeks ago here in the Orlando area. I don't know if it's from here or not but it was white with white rims. Can't say about the grille as I was turning of the Interstate and he was going the other direction. All I can say is it looked sharp.
