Do people really use these dead pedal's because i've been into cars for years and have never heard of such a thing, plus if i'm driving stick i wouldn't imagine taking my foot away from the clutch, but hey thats just my driving style.

Up until the HHR, all I had ever bought new was manuals, and I always used the dead pedal. With the auto HHR, it has the 'left foot footrest' there, and I can't imagine why they don't do one on a manual.

mine is an automatic, i drive with two feet, i know i shouldnt but i do. i use the dead pedal all the time, whenever my foot is not on the brake. it is hard enough for me, feels like plastic or hard rubber to my foot, i havent actually touched it though. as far as getting one, i would just by a gas pedal and put that over there, at least the rubber part.

I have a 2007 HHR LS Manual manufactured in 3/07. My co-worker has a 2007 HHR LS Automatic manufactured in 1/07. My manual HHR doesn't have the Dead Pedal, but his automatic does.

In fact my co-worker has been complaining his knee ached and blamed the lump on the floor. I took a look at it today and he has the Dead pedal option. He pulled back the carpeting and saw a piece of foam glued to the underside of the carpeting. He just ripped it out and now he is happy.

I agree this seems backwards to put the pedal in the automatics and not the manuals.

I have an automatic with the dead pedal, but the angle of the pedal is so steep it's useless for me.

Ichiban makes a dead pedal that fits the HHR automatic. You can get aluminum with color inserts to match the car. Try e-bay.

I guess you don't drive stick so you wouldn't really know.

Notice how uncomfortable it was for my left foot since there was this dam raised area on the left and if I put my foot there it was like having my toes bent up. Reached down and the carpet was loose next to the panel so I lifted it and there was this wedge shape of Styrofoam glued there. (noticed how I used the word, glued, (past tense). Now my foot has a resting spot that isn't so uncomfortable.
