LCA differences
This car or maybe just the hardware is possessed !!!!! WTF ?
So , I got the new pinch bolts from PP, took the HHR up to the son n law at the shop before they opened to swap out that temp bolt they put in ( now they put it in when they snapped the old bolt and I re-installed it after replacing the LCA ) so up on the lift and the nut loosened, then that was it.... it was all the sudden stripped, couldnt get the nut to spin off??? so I ended up driving back home to throw a nut splitter on it and change it out with a stock pinch bolt... I didnt want to crawl around on the ground today but here I am. OH LOOK !!! my heat shield is hanging????? one of the rivits apparently broke free next to the cat so I popped a screw in to secure it, wonder if that will cure that rattle Ive been hearing all year? We will see soon when I get out again.
Now we both noticed the caliper was ****ed a bit, its the same one that the caliper pin was seized that I lubed and reinstalled so Im wondering if its bad since I still get a slight pulsation/shimmy when braking... and it feels like its coming from that wheel.
But I swear these seized bolts , all bolts on the HHRs are posessed, never had issues with bolts on a damn car before, let alone a new one strip out that wasnt even torqued down?

Sounds like, that could be the problem.

No they were a matched pair with lock washer, I had it out to change the LCA at home and put back in.... so I know it wasnt stripped or anything since I didnt torque it as I was waiting for these new OEM bolts. Unsure what happened with it stripping?
Sounds like, that could be the problem.

I am amazed how many of you can do repairs like this in your back yard ! Very interesting wish I took auto class in school lol. I may not be able to fix my HHR myself but really enjoy reading how yo all did it ! Thanks
I grew up in a family of construction and mechanics. Hands on with older street rods since the 70s. Built many street/strips in my garage in the younger years until I got injured at work... Sold everything during my recovery since I wouldnt be able to do it anymore , wish I kept stuff and try again.... but pain sets me back. Even simple stuff hurts but Im not lazy and push myself because Im stubborn. I do what I can from time to time. This new house we have 2 acres and a large parking lot but a tiny garage thats useless. Im mainly old school rear wheel drive so this front wheel drive stuff if new to me, still some things are manageable, worth trying at times to save a few bucks.
