I own a 06 HHR with aluminum wheels. I am forever putting air in my tires. Are these wheels prone to leaking. Thanks for any help.

 

I have a set of 2006 aluminium rims, no air leaking from the rims, the bead was leaking on one rim, the valve stem was leaking on another, try replacing the valve stem innards or soapy water on the bead see if there are bubbles!

Check the bead to the rim. Dismount and pour H2O on rim / tire seam and look for the bubbles at full psi.
Gunk builds up and slow leaks common from ?electrolysis? over time.

You’ll have to break the tire bead and brush the rim , I would check the valves first. Much easier to change those

 

When you get new tires the tire guy is "supposed to" clean it up usually with some emery cloth.

 

How is the clearcoat on the wheel? I had a set that would not seal because the clearcoat was corroded where the bead seats. About a half hour with a wire wheel on the bare rime got all the clear coat off the bead and it sealed up.

This is pretty much a worst case scenario if nothing else works

 

As mentioned may need the bead cleaned ! or a bad air stem! Happened to me before !
For a cheap leak detector add a few drops of dish washing soap and water in a jar or spray bottle. Spray tire and look for the bubbles ! And to make that mix more bubbly add a few drops of Glycerin .
