Long time Lurker saying Hello
Long time Lurker saying Hello
Just wanted to finally chime in and say hello to everyone. I've had my 2007 HHR Panel for a year now and it has been serving me perfectly. I traded in my 1995 ImpalaSS for it. I owned the ImpSS for 11 years. I miss it, but I don't miss the gas bill every month!
I have a small Hot Rod Shop on the side and I use the Panel to haul parts when needed. I initially bought this "econo-car" to commute to and from work and to bridge a two year gap before I bought my next car, maybe a Camaro or Challenger. I would then pass the Panel to my son as his first car. But the economy and the gas crunch has got me lovin' this little work horse. I may hold off longer on the new V-8 car now!
Here are a few pics of a recent haul. I haven't seen too many people post pics of actually loading up the cargo space of these Panels so I think you will enjoy these. I packed 37 boxes of laminate flooring into the Panel. At 35lbs a piece, that's 1295lbs!
Drove home 40 miles about 55mph on the freeway....

I will eventually put my hot rod shop logo on the side of the Panel. Here it is:

That's quite a haul! Although Dory is not a panel, I've had over 1,000 pounds worth of steel hurricane shutters that I hauled to a recycle yard about 15 miles of nearly all highway.

Also, don't forget to have your pics resized in PB to 640*480 for posting here.
My other projects
Here are few pics of the '57 Bel Air, which my dad purchased as a high school senior in 1962. He was second owner of the car. We restored it and he got to see it completed before he passed 2 years ago. There's a pic of him with the car before we were born.
The '66 Chevelle is a pro-touring style build. Four wheel disc, 454 big block, Gear Vendors overdrive, a combination of Hotchkis and Global west suspension components. power windows, AC, Big Alpine Stereo system. You know, all the good stuff.
The gold car is my brother's '53 210 Chevy. It's slammed on Shockwave Airbags, four wheel disc, 700R4 overdrive trans and a traditional 327 v-8 with tri-power carb set up.
