Manual Shifter Knob

Before I yank out something, crack or break something, how do I remove the manual shifter knob?

By chance, what is the diameter of the shift shaft?

I have a 8 Ball knob from my PT Cruiser that I would like to transfer to my HHR SS.

Thanks,
Dmaeio

That one won't work on the SS.

But...

A screw on shifter knob won't work on an SS because of the top of the shifter being female threaded instead of male.
