Marker bulbs

Ive heard of bulbs melting the lenses, I got a front and rear side marker out that I need to replace ( hopefully do this all today while doing the turn signal switch if it arrives. What is the best bulb to use that wont melt the marker lenses?

I have had (and have) a whole bunch of HHRs and haven't had any problems with melted lenses for the markers.

I bet the correct bulb was replaced with a similar bulb that fits but has a higher wattage output.

The correct marker bulb is a 194, which is 2 cP (candlepower).

The 168 bulb (which is the license plate bulb for the HHR) looks like the 194 and fits into the socket. The 168 bulb has 3 cP, which is 50% more wattage. Putting a 168 in place of the 194 may well cause overheating of the lens.

It is not the markers that melt. It is the 2006-2007 models that use the turn signals for DRL. That is because the bulb book says that 2 bulbs are equivalent, in size and fit they are in heat they are not. When you go to the parts store they usually give you the wrong bulb. The correct part is listed in your Owner Manual.

All donr, screw on rear marker was tight and squeaky coming out, fine going in. Bulb popped in my fingers trying to get it out, luckily no cuts, front I popped out 2 lower pins in the well cover and just reached in. simple and easy, done in another 5-10 minutes flat. Blinker switch worked great on my run to get bulbs.
