For a model that died 11years ago I still see HHR's everywhere.
Naw, you still gotta give the PTC at least 1 point because technically they’re “original” and we’re “extra crispy” in the big scheme of things. I remember arguing if the VW Karmann Ghia counted when we played “taps on that Bug.” HHR gets 2 points and the rest of the scale is fine.
Rental car companies bought HHR's by the 'bucket load', which accounts for some of the numbers of them out there, plus my experience with mine, an 07 bought new, has been good. It has been very trouble free over the years, and continues to run well and reliably, so they are likely living a longer life then some others.
It could also be their unique look, easy to repair, and customize.
Most folks that I know with an HHR are long haulers, some are original owners, some have multiple models.
I’ve enjoyed the 2 I’ve owned , the G2G’s with folks in many states and provinces. That has prompted me the keep it going.
As you have seen over the years on this website I’ve done my own maintenance, modifications (mostly bolt on)
these little trucklets just don’t quit, and instil a pride of ownership. I see that in many of or members here.

I just know that even though there's no more snow out, I still jump into the HHR even though I have nicer vehicles. The thing is just simple as spit to fix, it rides decently and most importantly, it just hauls anything you want to toss into it - last week it was big patio blocks and a used fridge for the boat, this week it was the stern drive for my boat and later this week it will be full of picnic stuff. All this while still getting mid to high 20's mpg. If something unfortunate were to happen to mine, I'd go right out and buy another one!
