MTX shift light???

Anyone out there with the MTX (Manual Transmission) see your shift light illuminate yet? I've NEVER seen it flash and have taken it 500 rpm less than (the start of...) redline (??6500rpm??) on a few occasions! Just wondering if anyone else has seen it or if there's some feature in the DIC that must be set? Don't get me wrong... I'm not one for dummy lights - just curious...

Didn't know there was a shift light. lol. So I'll have to say no. I've never seen it, and I've had mine up to 6000 rpms...

HOLY CRAP Joe ... does this mean you've witnessed this 'elusive dash symbol' in action??? Kinda wierd it only flashes when the rev limiter kickes in... not that that's a bad thing! Musta been somewheres around 7200rrrr's, huh?

I see mine all the time . It comes on slightly before redline (about 6500rpm). I like to wind out the very smooth Ecotec 2.4L. If I don't see the yellow + in the circle light up, I'm not pushing hard enough! There seems to be a correlation between being a leadfoot and seeing the shift light.

Actually the shift light is designed as an economy thing. It's supposed to come on to let you know when to shift to the next gear for the best economy. But when I noticed mine not coming on like they do in other cars I asked the dealer about it (not that I want it to come on) just out of curiousity. He looked into it and yes, like other cars with one it is suppose to light up. He said it's most likely a glitch in the software programming. But as far as he knows there hasn't been any complaints so GM isn't concerned. He and I both agree that although this "Shift light" thingy doesn't work correctly, myself as with quite possibly most owners of cars with the MTX don't like it anyway....so who would complain...LOL

Right on Dan... although I don't want a dumbed down ride - I too was curious as to why (or when) the light would illuminate. So I guess FASTSUV isn't getting all that good of gas mileage!?!?
