My HHR officially SUCKS!
... for winter driving, that is. I installed GoodYear Assurance Triple-Treds this fall to compliment the factory installed "traction control". This morning, in about 6-8 inches of wind-driven snow I couldn't even get out of my damn driveway before getting stuck. After much rocking and back and forth I finally got the bloody thing back in and off the road.
Never shoulda got rid of the 4X4!

Sorry about your getting stuck.
I drove in to work on some very hairy ice and snow covered roads today with plenty of crashes all around and made it with no issues. I have the same tires. My HHR drove just fine.
At 0 degrees the salt is not working too well.

I've only driven the HHR in the snow once or twice when I was up in Maine in early December in '06. The car has more torque than I expected. (I wish I had a five speed) and it was very easy to spin the fronts (no traction control on my '06). You just have to be REAL gentle on the gas. I find I can easily get wheel spin on some wet roads in Florida.
I don't miss the snow, that why I relocated to sunny Florida.

This is my second winter with the same goodyear triple treads and as long as the snow is not too deep it seems to work as well as my 4x4 truck. I will take the draw back of a low car over the fuel use of my truck

My (SS - 5 spd) has been fine so far, but there are times when the lighter weight of this car coupled with the torque that it produces can be touchy. Bigger heavier vehicles are pulling out from the lights faster than I can - but not when the roads are dry.

Haven't had very much snow lately but last January the first week after I bought the SS we got snow and it did great. We have limited slip and the only thing that'll stop me is if it's more than six inches deep.

I have a 2009 panel with traction control. My dealer told me if I get stuck in snow and have to rock it back and forth to turn of the traction control and that would help when trying to get un stuck. I have not had to try this yet. Maybe other members have and they can chime in on this one.
