Well, now that you mention it, it does make it look sleeker, doesn't it? And, a teeny bit more spacious-feeling... can you tell me how to take them off - is it easy?

It makes a huge difference...

I thought she was nuts at first, but I liked it so much in her car, I did the same thing to my Surf Wagon. Added a set of red and black performance seatcovers to my HHR and left the armrests off. It really gives a great performance feel to the front seat positions especially for the driver!

VERY EASY...

Pop the little plastic cap off the side of each armrest.

Remove bolt holding it on with a basic socket set (don't remember exact socket size used but it was a basic common socket in most sets).

Slip you seat covers over the seats. (you will need to add some kind of seatcover or you'll see the hole and metal bracket that holds the armrest on)

You're done.

If you change your mind, simply poke a hole the the side of your seatcover lined up with the hole where the bolt holds the armrest to the seat. Then re-install the armrest with the bolt and snap cap back on the side of your armrest.

I think she bought them online but I'm not sure where. I'll have to ask her.

After I saw the set she purchased for her HHR in Black and Blue, she bought me a set for my birthday last spring in Black and Red.

The best part is not putting the armrest back on. Wow, what a difference! So much more roomier and sportier feel and much easier to reach drinks and emergency brake.
