So now you CAN turn it off or on? Why?
On mine I can not, or I have not found out how yet, not that I really have looked.

Actually there is a big difference between stability control and traction control. The stability control system uses the traction control system as part of it.

Driving conditions...I don't have it on my HHR but I could turn it on and off on my Grand-am.

Weren't people complaining that the TC would kick in at the worst possible times and put them in more danger. That would be a good reason to put an on/off switch in it.

I don't have TC or even ABS on my HHR, so I have no idea.

It sucks on dry ground and sometimes can suck in the winter. I wish I could turn my traction control off. My Mustang had an on/off switch for the traction control. Stability control is supposed to help keep you from rolling over. I'm pretty sure both traction and stability control are available on the 2008 models.

They're putting training wheels on the HHR?

I do, but I have no way of turning it off/on always thought it as auto.
Really never thought about it, it is there, only when I start the HHR I see it on the Dash, then poof it is gone, so I have no idea if it is on or off.
Now that you have mentioned I had it on my Explorer, on the sterring colunm, off/on.
How weird, I have had the HHR for over 1 yr and never thought about off/on.
Good thing no snow here!

Thanks all, now I have to get the book out again.
