Let's make it in Gatlinburg in the fall ( a one hour drive for me ). Lots of fall colors, etc. Just kidding, of course. I would be in if it's not too far, or at the wrong time to get off work. It seems like that's the case with everything.

as of right now the National event has been moved to 7-2008.

even a year in advance wasnt enough time to get a big enough location to do a national meet. Most were already booked and they wanted 2 years advanced booking.

there is in progress a meet for next summer in July in Denver or just North of Denver that will be larger than all the local meets and not cost a fortune to book and pull off. the key factor being reasonable to get. There are several places being looked into booking that will work as of right now for the smaller meet.

There is one place in particular in Denver that might be open to do a national event because of a possible cancellation. I am waiting to hear back from them on 2 dates in mid july, 7-10 or 7-18 2007.

no one is stopping anyone from organizing one in your areas folks. it ceases to amaze me why people worry about the location. i dont care where anyone picks, alot of people arent going to be happy. No problem, do your own in your area. There are 10 regions on this forum and all of you can do your own thing. Mid Central is doing it, and others have done some smaller ones and all that is great.

if i was selfish i would just do it here in my area. easier and lots of places. i could do a national meet in DFW area next July w no problem and lots of places to go to even w lots of cars.

i thought 15 months might be enough time and it just isnt. people have dates booked for 2 years in advance for their large events. my quintet got booked 2 years in advance for a convention here in DFW area for us to play at.

it takes alot of time and effort to pull off a big meet and alot of people dont want to put in the effort to call literally 100s of phone calls to check on things and to see what works. most people do not realize how much effort there is in making a date work. you place a call and wait and people just dont call back and its like this for a while.

this isnt pick a date a year from now, a town and poof it is there and will happen. and no matter where you pick someone will be mad or sad or disheartened.

i belong to a music organization and every 2 years there is a international meet held in the US. this year it was at denver, 4 years ago it was in NC and 2 years ago they couldnt make one happen so they did regional meets. this group has been doing them since 1973.

big regional meets are easier to form up and each region can do its own. Go for it

i am still waiting for chevy to call me back w results of their research from HHR owners they are doing on a national meet to see what level of involvement they will do. 2008 will give every one a chance to do more and i dont want 2 to 300 showing up,,, i want to try and get 4 to 7,000 at a national meet.

right now proposed dates are 7-8 thru 12th and 7-15 thru 19th of 2008
