What you are experiencing is known as radio "Air Gap." It happens whenever the inside of the car attains 72.8 degrees, the wind is blowing at 14.6 miles per hour and there is a black cat within 4 miles of the car. When these conditions are simultaneously present, you have the radio situations you experienced. Or..

you just have a loose wire.
