I'm looking for past threads on engine oil (recommendations on brands, blends, synthetics,...), but when I search on "oil", I can't find anything. Am I brain dead or what?

 

Nothing for me either using "oil" but then I tried search for "mobil 1" and checked the show "post box" and not the "show thread" box" and you can find a number of different threads and post. Hope this helps.

 

No...you are not brain dead. Problem is that you can't get results on search here with just the word oil...it's too short of a word for the search engine here to filter results. (no pun intended)

Try putting in a brand name like Mobil or word synthetic...I did that and it brought up 5 pages of threads. Not all are oil threads, but quite a few of them are and you might find what you're looking for. Hope this helps.

Here is a link to a motor oil bible. It is a very long read ( PDF file.) 177 pages to be exact. There is some stuff that is not really important but it will tell you everything you want to know about oil. At the end of it there is a chart with all the different grades and broken down buy brand and ranked. hope this helps.
