Smile Need HHR Info.

I am thinking very serious about buying a new HHR. From everyone's experience with the HHR are there any problems that I should consider. I know everyone loves their HHR but just wanting to know what this vehicle is like.
Thank you very much in advance.

Welcome. Seems like most bugs were in the first model yr. and others seem to be brake rotors. Probably about the same as most cars from what I have read. I'm planning on getting an 08 in a month or so. I think Chevy will increase the rebate in January sometime like in the past, then they drop back and after the Cleve Auto show they usually toss in a $500 auto show bonus on top of it all. If you can wait that long we are talking around $2000 or a little more off on the Lt. I hope Chevy follows their pattern. Not sure if the Dealers in the Dayton area get that auto show bonus but most likely they do.

Go for it. You will love the HHR!

We now have 2,034 miles on our 2008 HHR and the fill-up today we got 28.05 MPG. About half highway and half rural/city roads. Used the remote start and the car would run for about 10 min. each time, about 50 min. total.

The HHR is like any other car built on an assembly line with vendor parts, best you can do is hope for one with no or a minimum amount of problems.

I have approx. 2600 mi. on my 08, but just started getting a check engine light problem, it isn't effecting the way the vehicle is running except the remote start won't work when this error occurs. It is something related to the emissions systems/vacuum side it will get fixed eventually.
Otherwise this car has been perfect, paint near perfect, fit near perfect, ride and handling just great. A nice size vehicle too, not to big and not to small.

I traded my 2002 Dodge Durango 4x4 in on it because, 98% of the time I am only hauling myself to work, go tired of driving all that weight around and doubled my gas mileage. I don't believe gas is going to go below $3 a gallon ever again, in fact it will probably go nowhere but up.

Go to Enterprise or Avis and rent one for a week. They rent the base model (LS). That is the best way to know if you will like it.

There are quite a few threads with HHR issues. Like any new car, it is hit and miss. I have a brand new 2007 HHR with 800 miles on it, so I am not a good one to tell you about problems. But I have documented new car issues; look for the Thread that reads "Update 2..." by MWG2.

I moved from a very reliable car (Honda Accord) to the HHR. Frankly, it's a love affair thing...I love the HHR. Love the looks, love the interior, love the drive. And since I added the rear sway bar yesterday, I really like the way it drives.

The HHR is not for everyone...in fact, it's only for a few. So rent one and see how you will like it.

Peace,
