The new build :)

Starting building my new fiberglass enclosure for my 07 LS...I'm 2 days deep into it...haha...

Here ya go, eye candy!

Sizing the up the shape of the 15" subwoofer ring w/ amplifier rack

Everything is where we want it...

Fleece is stretched out, ready for fiberglass!!!

First layer of Fiberglass resin is on...

2nd layer is on, and the hole's cut...

Updates: Tomorrow (Monday 4/19/10) I will be laying down the bondo to start smoothing it out to send it out for paint, hopefully I will have it back in about a week and a 1/2 or so.

Audio Equipment
JVC KD-R610 (Might be going to the 900 though)
1 15" Diamond Audio D3
1 400.1 Diamond Audio D1 Amplifier
1 19' Audison RCA's
4 Gauge DBLINK Pwr/Grnd/Rem

I'm slowly putting my system together for more of SQL rather then SPL. So far my build time into the box is only about 4 hours total. I will be putting Diamond D3 6 1/2" Components in the front and coaxial in the rear, not sure when...but not too long. If you have any questions on my build, feel free to contact. :)

Looks awesome already. I can just picture how the finished product will look. I always wondered how the step by step process was done. I'm sure the pictures make it look much easier than it really is. I guess you could get carried away and over do it if you didn't have a blueprint in your mind has to how it will appear when finished. Some people think more is better like the guy below.

Lol. Wow, thats a piece of art work right there...the thing I strive on when I do things like this is performance, craftsmanship and of course...being unique. Now rule of thumb is that fiberglass boxes are not as loud as all wood boxes, but this box is just not fiberglassed to look "cool". It's tuned at 35 hertz because of the style of music I listen to and what not, its also built size wise for my HHR and with the allowed surface area I have to work with inside my vehicle. Building a box and building a fiberglass box is not hard, you just need to know simple basic mathematics...hell, use a calculator. haha.

If you can picture it, you can design it...its that easy. :) You live in Florida...I live in Michigan, I sure could use a vacation...and I'm sure we could build you a box :) hahaa.

Just curious but your only going to use 2 layers of glass? I thought and been reading on a fiberglass forum that more layers should be used, specially for a 15".

Well we have 1 extremely THICK layer...then the second layer, then on the inside alone...we have over of fiberglass hair & resin, so its abouts...1 3/4" thick...plenty enough for 1 15" subwoofer.

First time Ive seen an SQ build with a ported 15", overkill much? 1 3/4 FG must weigh a ton.
Thats a similar design to what Im thinking of, but 2 10". Whats the approx cubic feet and port length on yours?

H - 4 1/2"
L - 6"
D - 12"

and CF I believe is 2.8.
