New HHR Owner with a few questions.

I took delivery of my new Sunburst Orange HHR 2LT in January. So far I really like it but I have a few questions.

I have had some electrical bugs pop up on me. First the dealership replaced the gauge cluster because there were scratches on the original. Earlier this week I got in and noticed that the gauges didn't come on, I had idiot lights but no gauges or DIC. I turned the key on and off a few time with no success and made sure all the fuses were seated fully. After a minute or two of sitting I tried it again and it worked and has worked ever since.

I also had the temperature gauge stick on me. it was 45 out and the DIC said 24. I even made a stop for 10 minutes to drop off a package and shut the car off, It still displayed 24 when I came back. After about 5 more miles it started working again. not sure if I hit a bump or what?

This morning I was in the car and I had the window rolled down as I was talking to my wife before I left for work. The radio was on when all of the sudden OnStar started playing something about setting up Onstar (I did that 3 weeks ago) I hit cancel and it quit.

Any thoughts? Other than this weirdness I love the car. I have an appointment scheduled with the Dealer tomorrow

also what is the Normal idle RPM? I am new to Chevrolet and the ecotec engine. Prior to the HHR I was a hard core mopar fan - not anymore

Welcome to the forum!!

There are folks here who've experience all of those things, thankfully not yet for me. I'm sure they'll speak up soon. You can also try the search function, it does an okay job.

Size: 4.6 KB to the site. Like GDZHHR said, try the search button. I did a search using the word guage and came up with a couple of threads. Keep us informed on what you find out. By the way is this a 2006 or 2007?

Sounds like you are having some interesting electrical issues. I hope they all get straightened out at some point.

About the idle speed, I believe that my 06 with the 2.4L engine idles at around 800-900 RPM while in gear.

I know the tach in the car is not the most accurate but it looks like it is around 650 fully warmed up. It almost seems to low for a 4 banger. My Neon idles at 900-1000. maybe I will have the dealer look at that too. The car was built in September of 06. Are there any updates for the computer?

Welcome and enjoy the ride.
Check the TSB thread to see if it has anything in there.
Good luck. Always to have another SOM on the Fourm.

Actually I dont think the TSB thread is going to be of much use anymore. See here for why: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/problems-service-repairs-42/tsb-link-troubles-6636/

The Ecotec engine has dual balance shaft that make lower RPMs possible without making the engine rough. The Neon did not.

I did not think about that. It makes sense
