New Owner checking in

I just picked up a Silver 2008LS with a 5 speed. I got a great deal, used my GM Card earnings and traded in a 2001 Ford F150.
My other car is a Mazda Miata, and while the HHR is no sports car, I think I am going to enjoy it as my bad weather, winter vehicle.
A question for those with the manual transmission, after the break in period, where do you find the optimum RPM for shifting? The Miata likes to run up to 6,000 to 6,5000 RPM's.
I'll post some pics soon.

WElcome.

I'm with Hillsdale, I think you are going to be driving the HHR a little more than you think. =)

You guys are right about driving it more. I already put 120 miles on it since I picked it up last night. It is a surprisingly smooth and quiet ride for it's size, (and the early DIC mileage reports are great). I have to get used to the upshift light it seems to come on really low in the RPM range, but while in the break-in stage that's probably a good thing. I've been looking for a fun, utilitarian replacement for my pick-up and I think I found a winner, lots of bang for the buck. Thanks for the warm welcome.
I just hope I don't get catch HHR mod fever. I've spent serious money on my Miata between wheels and tires, a rollbar, intake and exhaust and body and interior accessories.

LOL...disclaimer

"all here love their HHR like it was the only car on earth. Careful what you say"

Welcome!! See all posts and read all!! You'll learn a ton about this awsome vehicle!
do you have the 2.2?
Good choice on the stick shift.

Optimum shifting for what? Power or mileage. I'm sure all those with the 2.2 will answer back.
