Gotcha SF.

I was curious, so I took another look at my policy.
For glass breakage, the deductible is waived if the glass is repaired.
The deductible will apply if the glass is replaced.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Mine is like that, but the glass company is allowed waive the deductible for replacement, to get your business. The glass company is allowed to charge the insurance company a lot more than the job is worth, so they still make a lot of money by giving up $100.

A friend of mine paid cash $300, the insurance company would have been billed over $600.

That's the same as my coverage for my Venture Van I just sold @approx. 100,000 miles. Here is my take on that.

The Venture had a much higher sloped windshield then the HHR. Only one small nick in all those miles but many rock hits. I have owned 3 Ventures and an Olds Sillouette from 2002 to 2005, the last year they made that body style. Probably a total of 275,000 miles. Not even a rock chip on the ones before this last one.
That's more then just being lucky.... It's the windshield quality and the design.
The angle of the front windshield is pretty steep on the HHR. It is by far more prone to damage. SOOO ......
I put zero deductible for glass on this HHR to cover me.
Time will tell if I made the right move. My bet has been activated.
