OK, we've got to get technical here. The purpose of your nuts was to retain a screw. Your nuts have malfuntioned and no longer do their job. You have 2 choices. (A) Replace your nuts....complicated, hard to find ones you like, and painful or (B.) Get a different size screw or one with a different (thread) attitude. NOTE: Choice "B" has been known to have an end result of choice "A".

not a complete moron here, but I have cool azz spikes that I really dig on my plates to hold them on so I can't use different size screw. I went ahead and changed with some others I had in my parts box (lol..spare nuts) and while it is not "perfect" it's ok, now my nuts don't match though
