Odd Brake Knock

I was sitting at Taco Bell waiting for our food when I shifted the truckster into park...after a bit, I hit the brake pedal and there was an odd knock. I actually turned off the radio and tested it out 5-6 more times and it clunked each time I depressed the pedal. When I shifted into gear, no clunk. Anyone else notice this? Is this a worry?

Just curious is your car auto or manual?

Note: If he "Shifted it into Park" then it's an automatic.

Not Sure Krejaton, - pehaps the brake interlock is acting up?
If it keeps up, I recommend a trip to the dealer.

Every time I read these threads, I usually get a good laugh out of the good captain's witty scribes, but that was excellent powers of observation socal!! BTW I have an auto also, and I haven't had any knocks yet. Hopefully I will not.

Didn't even have to read between the lines to see that. Also have auto and no wierd noises or knocks.

Well, it is still doing it. I noticed that when in park and I hit the brake, there is a knocking sound AND it can be felt in the shifter. Looks like its time for my first trip to the service dept

If it's making the knock in Park when you hit the brake, I can almost guarantee it is the shifter safety interlock.
There might even be a TSB about this as a couple of other members (somewhere else?), have reported problems in this area. Replacing the shifter interlock cured it.

Be sure to have your dealer order the part BEFORE you drop your car off! (*Get it checked out, have them order the part, and call you when its in.)

This way you won't be HHR-less.

Best of luck!
