Oh joy, another SS takes a hit! :(

Yep, so figure this, where I work I either have to park in a very uneven dirt lot with hundreds of other people who can't park for ****, or on the street-side parallel. Yay, what options! So since I got my SS I have parked it on the street-side, figuring it was better off than closer to the shipyard with all the other people who can't park decently to save their lives and love to peel out in the gravel on the way out. However, a lot of the parking available is in a long string parallel with a red zone in front of the string and in back on the string, allowing 10-20 cars to park there, depending on how the ID10Ts decide to park. I hated this as I felt my car was going to get hit daily by someone attempting to parallel park either in front of or behind me, and 1 day it happened. I always got there super early and tried to get a spot on 1 of the 2 red zones. This day I parked with my rear to the red, and the car who parked in front of me did so while I was in the car and never came close, had plenty of room, etc.. Well, by the time I got out there to my car after work he was gone and my bumper was scuffed and license plate slightly bent! so, I found that across the street there were 2 spots that were only for 1 car, red on both sides, 1 in front of a house, the other right behind it in front of a business under a palm tree. Well, obviously I don't want to park under the palm tree, but sometimes it is the only spot open, so occasionally I take it. Anywho, today I parked in my favorite spot in front of the house. Never had a problem there, plenty of red between my car and the driveway (like 5ft at least). As I am walking to my car after work I try to auto start it and get an alarm page. This sucks as it usually means that the battery is dead and it couldn't start itself. As I get closer I notice there is what appears to be yellow paper on my windshield, usually indicating a ticket, but I didn't do anything wrong! I get there and find the paper is the guys information (guy who lives in the house!) and a statement that he had hit my car, apparently with his yellow company Ford Aerostar minivan! So I go to the drivers side and sure enough, the front bumper, headlight, and a chip on the fender are covered in yellow paint! I have a feeling they will repair the bumper and headlight as neither appear to be seriously damaged, the bumper is just scuffed up bad, looks like it was pushed in and popped right back out to normal form, the headlight just has some yellow paint on it but it is not cracked and doesn't seem to be pushed in or anything, but the fender I am guessing is off alignment now, just from a little chip, which would indicate to me that he was backing out and somehow grazed me, but caught the lip of the fender just a tiny bit for second, enough to leave a little indentation and throw it out of whack. Anyways, I have pics on my cell, I will get them up in a bit but they will probably suck. He had left information for me that he had already filed a claim and he had, and I also filed a claim with my insurance just so they can make sure his does the job. Then to top it all off, the POS wouldn't start! Luckily a buddy from work who had parked his PT Cruiser under the palm tree right behind me had just come out, so he jumped my car. THIS SUCKS!

It really sucks to have your ride damaged, but you are fortunate enough that the guy accepted responsibility and left his info. Not a lot of people would do this.

I am thinking the SS is a target anymore. So many of us get hit and seldom if ever is it the fault of the SS driver.

At least he left s note and looks to have done the right thing. So many people anymore would have just left. That is the one positive thing you can take from this.

The guy who ran me off the road was ready to leave till he heard me ask if anyone got his plate number and three people said yes. He then never reported it to his company after he was sited and they found our when mine went after his company. His company was not happy with him.

That sucks! Like Jay said, it's good that at least he did leave his info...most people now a days just drive off and don't care.... It's a shame.

Yeah, I am lucky, either way if I had to report it it would have been and hit and run, it would have had to have been covered by my insurance, and I would have had to pay the deductible. Since he manned up it is covered completely by his insurance and mine was only notified. Pics are up: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v1...onjr/HHR%20SS/

Well, I just went out and looked at it again, and it appears I might have been wrong. It looks like the bumper and light might be dislocated and the fender not. It also appears that he hit me in passing as opposed to in backing. Better pics will be up shortly.

The bad luck you keep having with a dead battery would make be carry a spare. Years ago I use to carry an extra one since I knew the one in the vehicle wasn't that good and the spare batt also was old but I kept it charged up. Your short commute most likely is the culprit causing yours to go dead. Maybe one of those solar chargers that plugs into the cig lighter would be your answer, since it is always sunny in San Diego, so I've been told.

Probably not a bad idea, an08HHR. Pics have been updated in the same link, just took them with a real camera instead of my cell phone cam.
