Oil Change Interval

I've put on around 3,000 miles on my HHR in the month that I've had it - my oil life indicator is only around 50% - is that right?
(23,### miles total )

I drive 98% highway miles - 60-75mph. I'm used to oil changes every month - but if I can really go about 6,000 miles between changes that would be nice :-)

It's all a matter of personal preference. If you feel comfortable with what the DIC is telling you, then go ahead a use that as a guide as to when to change oil.

If you do a search you'll find a few threads about this. LOTS of different opinions!

Lightbulb Another 3 cents worth

My wife drives a 2002 Ford Escape 4x4, since it was brand new, the manual states an oil change every 5K, that's with 20W oil. Have not had a problem, the vehicle has 85000 miles on it.

I like the "Looks Dirty" method of oil change intervals.I look at the oil on the dipstick, and if it looks dirty I change it.Not really...I usually go about 7-8K and do it when I get a chance.I feel Royal Purple synthetic is good for that long or longer.

I use a similar method. Whenever it looks dirty or 3000 miles, whichever comes first
