Oil filter wrench

From what I read here I should be able to remove the filter cap with a 32 mm or 1 1/4 in socket. I have found the sockets are too tall and hit the header before seating on the cap.

To my amazement no one carries the Lisle 14700 oil filter wrench. Have tried Carquest, Autozone, Napa. Does anyone know of an auto parts chain that would have this or is it an online item.?

Much has been written obout this. You need a shallow socket.

Same here in Canada. I'm overdue an oil change but can't get the wrench at reasonable cost. Available from Snap-On Tools for $32 ish - too much to pay.

I bought one from Sears (Craftsman). You probably can still find them there.
