OK So why do I get XM Service on a used car?

The XM radio works and I have no subscription. Could the previous owner have paid a long term subscription off? IM not complaining as I probably would not pay $13 a month to drive 10 miles a day with XM radio,

Just wondering how the subs work.

The longer the subscription, the cheaper it is per month. You can chose to have them charge it directly to your credit card. I'd say the previous owner forgot to cancel their subscription. Go to www.xmradio.com to see what stations they offer. I listen to XM 46 Top Tracks on long trips just for a change from my usual country music.

Either that or they got it free for a year when they bought the car and can't transfer it, or the early termination fee is greater than what they have left on it. I think Chrysler uses Sirius, so if they bought one of those products then they probably would have gotten Sirius.

They only give 3 months free when you buy a new vehicle.

If the HHR was purchased used from a GM dealer, perhaps they also have a deal for 3 months free on used cars. Haven't heard anything about that, but ya never know.

Ours was a used purchase and we had XM for nearly ten months after

Our Odyessy has XM and when the three month sub is up, I may ask for the deal they seem to be giving all the Honda members in our Oddity forum. $77.00/year. If they do that then I'll tell them of the HHR and say "What can you do here......?" I don't find the sound quality worth what they ask, plus I drive through a lot of dead spots.
But at a reasonable low price , We can put up with it!

Cool I love XM!

I only drive 2 miles each way to work every day, but I feel XM is worth EVERY PENNY! besides, you only live ONCE.

I do drive 2,500 miles round trip to Maine every year, and other smaller trips throughout the year, but there is so much on XM that I find it a great deal. Plus we have a family plan & my wife listens to hers ALL THE TIME...and sometime in late '08 she should be listening to her XM in our SECOND HHR!!!

The $77.00 a year is a good deal.

For the HHR, you'd simply do the family plan for $6.99 a month, but they probably have a hidden special deal for that as well.

I added a 4th radio to my XM Canada subscription last week - 1 year for just under $40, thanks to a promo they had running.

I'll let it go when it shuts off. I have cable music at home and listen to the MP3 player in the car and FM Talk Radio.

$13 a month is steep for maybe 20- 30 minutes a day in the car three days a week.

IF I was an LA commuter Id buy it for sure. Even NY/NJ commutes are long enough to enjoy it. I just don't spend enough time in the car.
