I really don't drive much. I have a 2009 and it sat for about a week and a half and it wouldn't start, nothing, not even a click.

Called OnStar and they sent a guy to jump it. That's where the fight began...

I opened the hood and I don't see a battery..

The truck shows up and this kid gets out and is upset that it's in the garage and it's not easy to get to. He hooked the cables on the posts and then started it!!!!! Yep, blew out everything... dealer took care of everything that day at no charge.

Obviously the guy didn't have a clue... never jump off those posts! A little manual or training wouldn't hurt either~!

I have to start it every 7 days and let it run for 30 minutes to keep the battery charged.

I have had the car almost 5 months now and it has a whopping 2,389 miles on it....

Half the neighborhood has it's eyeballs on my '92 Chevy S-10... it has 89K on it, always garaged and looks new.

Although I will admit....Delco doesn't make the best batteries....I can't help but wonder if you have a parasitic drain.

My HHR sits, sometimes, for 2-4 weeks without a start. When I do need it, it starts right up. It's still the stock 06' battery.

Just a thought.

 

I use the Battery Tender Jr, which would be much better than letting the engine idle for 30 minutes.

 

My '07 has set for 2 to 3 weeks and I've had no problems, this last time it sat for 2 weeks in some fairly cold St. Louis weather in an open parking lot and started right up - remotely I might add while I unloaded my service truck before heading home.

 

Shame is Delco used to have some of the best batteries.

I have had sever last over 12 years, one lasted 17 years.

The one in my 04 GP is the first one I have had that only went 4 years.

I used to see the old Delcos go for 8-12 years on a regular baises in the 80's-90's.

 

That's interesting, hyperv6. The 80's to the mid 90's, was some of the worst Delco Batteries ( I was assigned to a Delco Battery group, in 1992, and purchased competitive batteries from all over the world for Delco to use on tests.) Many consumer and repair magazines support this. Glad you had luck with them.

But, understand I'm not saying they make bad batteries, I'm just saying, "Not the BEST".

In over 58 GM vehicles that I have owned, I only had one that was "bad"....it lasted 2 1/2 years. Most are 4-5....a few 6-y years.
