Paint Removal??

Hi everyone, I seemed to have drove to close to a center line after it was recently painted and now have yellow paint splatters on my car. Any suggestions how to remove it??

Thanks, HHR MOM

I used Goof Off or Goo Be Gone on mine to remove road tar. I figure this would work ok for paint also. Try some polishing compound as well. Rub the Goof Off on and let it sit awhile and then apply again. Hope this helps.

Talked to Henry who is a detailer by trade. He said solvents may not work...but one of the dealers where he used to work had plastic razor blades and that might work. They are one sided and orange and you'd have to be really careful even though it's plastic not to scratch the car. Road paint is some pretty tough stuff and depending on how thick and big the spots are and how dry they have become.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Suggest Bonnie reads the label of those products to makes sure road paint removal is an intended use. It's tough stuff. There are products designed for this purpose, though I personally have used none as I have never had the problem happen.

Here is one:

I am sure there are others. Google it!

Turtle Wax Bug and Tar removal also takes off paint. I just looked at the label. Goo Gone also removes paint. I just read the label.

HI,
I would agree with kermitkuhn. I used to do a little detailing myself and had a car come in with a similiar problem. I wasn't to sure how to remove it, but the guy who brought me his car said to try bug and tar and leave it on overnight. I can't recall if I left it on that long but we got it all off.

Another thread on tar removal mentioned using WD-40. Might not hurt to give that a try...as that's something everyone probably has hanging around the house. How bad is it? Do you have pictures?
